Skype is an instant messaging and internet telephony (VOIP) application designed to be hard to block and control using traditional means e.g. firewalls. Due to its stealthy nature it can presents security and compliance problems in the enterprise. This white paper describes how Blue Coat SG appliances can be used in conjunction with firewalls to block unauthorized use of Skype in the enterprise.
