ABSTRACT:
SSO is a prime example of how technology can help achieve compliance, lower administration and IT costs, increase productivity, and provide end-user satisfaction. Unfortunately, achieving true SSO throughout an enterprise, regardless of the SSO approach, is extremely difficult. In most organizations there are typically some system resources in which it is impractical or even impossible without major modifications to eliminate all but the initial sign-on prompt. A more practical goal is to eliminate as many sign-on cues as is feasible within an organization given its unique requirements and budget. The most commonly used and critical resource sign-on prompts should be the primary focus for elimination. The extent to which sign-on signals are eliminated depends mainly on the amount of time and money you are willing to spend and the degree of infrastructure and application modifications you are willing to make.
