ABSTRACT:
ClearFlite software application allows users to identify and collect vertical obstructions in and around airfields using stereo imagery. The resulting obstruction database can be used directly by geographic information systems (GIS) and perspective visualization systems.

ClearFlite automatically creates the NIMA Ron Brown Airfield Initiative OIS, and can now create, import, and display FAA Part 77 surfaces as well. Once the OIS is created, ClearFlite automatically tracks the cursor position along the surface. An automatic reporting capability provides continuous information on vertical objects in danger of penetrating the obstruction surface. The continuous reporting of potential hazards increases the user?s speed and performance during feature collection. ClearFlite also contains tools for collecting and editing 3D volumetric features, as well as points, lines, and polygons.

In addition to a robust feature collection capability, ClearFlite also populates some feature attributes, such as building heights and area volume automatically. An editing tool provides the ability to customize other feature attributes to user specifications. To speed up the collection process even further, the user can input X, Y, and Z coordinates, and ClearFlite will move the cursor to the selected feature. ClearFlite will also load the appropriate stereo model for any feature selected by the user.
